How many ICU beds does Utah have? Wrong question

SALT LAKE CITY â From the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, public health leaders in Utah have been clear that the chief number guiding decisions is hospital capacity, especially when it comes to precious intensive care unit beds.
The confusing thing is the focus on the word âbed,â because thatâs not really the appropriate way to judge capacity. There are three clarifying distinctions:
Itâs about STAFFED beds.
Itâs even more about STAFFED ADULT beds.
And itâs even more about STAFFED ADULT beds at REFERRAL hospitals.
ST. GEORGE A paraglider suffered serious injuries Friday after authorities say he fell to the ground in an area outside St. George.
The incident took place about 5 p.m. in an area of Washington County just outside St. George, near the Zen Trailhead southwest of the city, according to Washington County Sheriff s Sgt. Nate Abbott.
Witnesses told authorities that there was a change in the wind, which caused the man s parachute to collapse, Abbott said. The man, who is about 35 years old, fell to the ground and he suffered some serious injuries.
The man was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George via a medical helicopter, Abbott said.
SALT LAKE CITY In many ways, 2020 was a year unlike any other.
If there was one headline in the news that could possibly sum it up, it was a CNN guest column with the headline 1918 + 1929 + 1968 = 2020, published back in the thick of protests over police brutality during a pandemic that also resulted in economic calamity.
Of course, 2020 didn t produce something as quite as deadly as the 1918 pandemic or as financially devastating as Black Thursday, or even as violent as 1968. Having those moments in one year, however, was unique. And 2020 produced hardships that those other years didn t, like some of the worst wildfires ever recorded.

SALT LAKE CITY After the year we ve had, even Santa needed a little Christmas Eve head start.
That s why he visited LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City Thursday night instead of Friday morning.
He wanted to make sure health care workers got an early gift.
Santa also visited Primary Children s Hospital and the University of Utah Hospital on Thursday.
DoorDash and Uber Eats have nothing on Santa. He got a head start on Christmas by delivering food to health care workers in hospitals. He knows not everyone gets Christmas Eve off and he wanted to say thank you. @KSL5TV at 10. #ksltv#MerryChristmasEvepic.twitter.com/wXVSDZGCmS Alex Cabrero (@KSL AlexCabrero) December 25, 2020
