Life Certificate submission date extended for Pensioners: Dr Jitendra
NEW DELHI: As a major relief to senior citizens, the Life Certificate submission date has been extended for Pensioners up to February 28, 2021. This important concession for Central government pensioners has been made by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) in view of the difficulties faced by the elder citizens in the wake of COVID pandemic.
Disclosing this here today, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is also In-Charge Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, said that this decision has been taken considering all the sensitivities to avoid pandemic risk emanating from gathering of crowds at the Pension Disbursing Banks. So very glad to share with SOM readers that the Jeevan Praman Patra (Digital Life Certificate) was processed at my doorstep by the Postman of Gokulam Post Office.
I am a resident of Gokulam. It so happened that the Postman, who had come to deliver a post, asked me whether I am a Pensioner for which I said yes. Then he asked me to give the Aadhaar card number and phone number which I immediately gave him. He fed the same in the App of his smartphone and within seconds I got an OTP.
After feeding the OTP, he took out a biometric instrument and asked me to place my finger. It was all over in a matter of a few minutes and he said the job is done.
