St Kitts to host CPL

Article by BASSETERRE – St Kitts will host the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament this year. Organisers announced on Tuesday that all 33 matches in the tournament would be played from August 28 in the island under a format similar to last year’s version, which was contested in Trinidad. “We are delighted to be able to announce that we will be having the CPL in St Kitts in 2021 and we would like to thank those involved in welcoming the tournament to this wonderful country,” CPL chief operations officer, Pete Russell said. “As was demonstrated during the 2020 tournament, the CPL is a massive boost for the host country…We are really looking forward to giving St Kitts the exposure they deserve.”

Photo courtesy Angostura Angostura has joined in the relief effort by donating tools and instruments to help in the clean-up of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as the eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano continue. The company said in a release on Wednesday that together with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, it donated the supplies on Tuesday and they would be delivered by the Galleons Passage ferry. The donation included 500 full-size mattresses, 100 shovels, 300 pairs of steep tip boots, 200 mops, 100 scrubbing brooms, 200 buckets, 140 water hoses and 2,300 reflective vests.

Citizens to get disaster training, but ODPM warns: Don t be a hero

But they will be warned not to take unnecessary risks. Speaking at a press conference on the NDPP at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management s (ODPM) Mausica Road office on Wednesday, regional co-ordinator Jaishima Gowandan said building the capacities of citizens was crucial in formulating an effective disaster management plan.
