Today my guest is Israel Stacy, a student in the ENMU theater program. He appears in the play, Everybody premiering tonight via Zoom worldwide. Thank you for joining me today. STACY:  Of course. GENTRY:  Israel, you re a freshman Theatre major. Tell me about your previous experience as an actor. STACY:  So, my previous experience as an actor goes throughout the entirety of my high school career. In fact, the very first show I was ever in was a show called

Faculty recital continues through setbacks

The yearly faculty recital is put on by a group of volunteer staff members who wish to perform for students, faculty and the community. Despite experiencing small setbacks such as social distancing, the recital was able to be performed almost exactly like prior years. Assistant Professor of Horn, Amy Laursen, performed at the yearly staff recital on Jan. 25. Laursen said that putting on staff recitals is really beneficial for her students as it teaches them new things.  “I like to do a faculty recital once a year just so my students have the opportunity to be exposed to new music and for them to see that, I too, make mistakes and that preparing for a recital is rather challenging,” Laursen said.  

Contract Approved for New WIU President; Abraham Will Serve as Provost

Rich Egger Western Illinois University s new president is getting a two-and-a-half year contract.  Western s Board of Trustees approved the deal unanimously. Dr. Guiyou Huang will be paid a starting salary of $320,000, which BoT member Erik Dolieslager said compares favorably to sister institutions across the state. Dr. Guiyou Huang Credit Courtesy WIU From a compensation standpoint, you ve heard me mention this before, I think we need to continue to be competitive and attract top talent, Dolieslager said. I think it (the contract) is a very solid, well-written document. You can read the contract here. Board Chairperson Polly Radosh noted that Western generally has not given multi-year contracts to its presidents.
