Small and-medium-sized enterprises and freelancers in the creative industries have received a major boost with the launch of a new programme of financial resources and support amidst the current lockdown. CREATIVE Fuse Tees Valley, part of Creative Fuse North East – a partnership between Newcastle, Durham, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside universities funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the European Regional Development Fund – and in conjunction with DigitalCity, has devised a high-impact scheme to help SMEs and incorporated non-profits in the creative, cultural, heritage and digital sectors based in the Tees Valley bounce back from Covid-19.
Ben Houchen by Platform 2 at Middlesbrough station TEES Valley Mayor Ben Houchen today (Monday) revealed that direct trains between Middlesbrough and London will return by the end of this year, as work gets under way on the station’s £34million upgrade. In order to allow for more services and the longer LNER Azuma trains that run on the East Coast Main Line to the capital, platform 2 is being extended with construction work set to be complete by May, ahead of the restoration of the direct London service in December. Mr Houchen visited the station to see first-hand how the scheme was progressing which, just a year ago, was still a design on a page. Since then, the Mr Houchen and the Combined Authority have been working with Network Rail to significantly speed up the delivery of the improvements.
