Alleged Drug Dealer Assaults Police Officer
TYE, TX – A 28-year-old Tye man is facing serious charges after he assaulted a police officer.
According to the Tye Police Department, William Ryan Pierce was arrested after a four-hour standoff with law enforcement.
The standoff began around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday after Pierce refused to exit his home and hid in the attic of the home.
After obtaining a search warrant Tye Police officers and members of the Sheriff s Special Response team entered the home.
Around 10:15 p.m. Pierce was removed from the home. Tye Police Chief Jay Strong confirmed the suspect assaulted an officer.
Wrong-way driver arrested on Hwy. 19
Two Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies escaped a close call without injuries when they went head-to-head with an intoxicated wrong-way driver on U.S. Highway 19 Sunday night.
Sgt. Jeff Ballard and Deputy Lucas Hamilton were dispatched to the area of the Taylor/Madison county line around 7:55 p.m. in reference to reports of a driver traveling in the wrong lane.

17 people were arrested Saturday by Tye Police after two different human smuggling busts. The first group had nine immigrants plus the smuggler. Suspects Attack Officers in Major Meth and Reefer Bust
TYE, TX – As a result of a traffic stop in Tye, sheriff s deputies discovered approximately $200,000 worth of drugs.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff s Office, narcotics agents conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday in a vehicle driven by 28-year-old William Ryan Pierce.
During the stop, a K-9 alerted the presence of drugs and the vehicle was searched. Deputies then discovered approximately 14 pounds of marijuana.
Agents then obtained a search warrant for a home in Abilene and recovered a rifle, more than 8 pounds of marijuana, and more than 4 pounds of methamphetamine.
A second search warrant was then obtained for a storage unit. At that location, agents discovered more than 100 vape cartridges that each contained 1,000 milligrams of THC.
