Delaware County Closes its Aston Community Center Vaccination Site Released: June 9, 2021 Delaware County Council joined leaders of the Delaware County COVID-19 Task Force and dozens of staff and volunteers on June 5 in closing the Aston Community Center Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic after four highly successful months. The Aston Community Center vaccination clinic, one of the first opened by the County, dispensed over 69,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to nearly 40,000 people, vaccinating nearly 10% of the adult population of the entire county. This achievement was possible due to the selfless efforts of hundreds of volunteers, nurses, nursing students, clinical staff, and employees of multiple County government departments under the direction of the Emergency Services Department, the Department of Intercommunity Health and the Citizen Corps of Delaware County.

Bryan Robinson gets up at 4:30 a.m. to be at Philly Shipyard by six o’clock sharp. His task for the day, in the apprenticeship program he started last month: cutting or welding, or some of both. When everything’s going right with the welding, “it can be very soothing,” he said. “It’s you and your material,” heating up the metal until it turns cherry-red, then introducing high-flow oxygen to start the welding process. Looking at your finished work, it’s that feeling of having built something from scratch.
