View Comments Two of Delaware s largest and most well-known animal welfare organizations announced their intent to merge last week in a move they hope will lead to more animals being saved and better access to services for Delawareans. Board members at the Delaware Humane Association and Delaware SPCA voted to commence a merger process to combine the two organizations. The integration process is expected to be completed by the end of the year. We kind of came to the conclusion that we were both trying to do the same thing, said Patrick Carroll, DHA’s executive director who will be the new organization s CEO. We have the same mission. It just makes sense to combine forces and do it together.

Humane Association and Delaware SPCA plan to combine - Delaware Business Now

Delaware Business Now Delaware SPCA announced their boards of directors voted to commence a process that would combine the two organizations. The integration process is expected to be complete in fall 2021, pending completion of the legal process, allowing Delaware SPCA and DHA to fully combine business operations within the coming year. According to a release, DHA and Delaware SPCA will work to expand upon their shared goals of ensuring the safety and well-being of companion animals through temporary housing and adoption, spay/neuter, and affordable veterinary services. Cavanaugh and Carroll Operations will continue at each organization’s current Wilmington, Christiana/Newark, and Rehoboth Beach locations.
