Carol Ann Smith, 86, of Dagsboro, formerly of Reisterstown, Md., passed away at home surrounded by family Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.
She was born in Orange, N.J., Jan. 9, 1935, to the late Joseph and Ethel McInerney Gross. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Smith, in 2009 and a sister, Janet Gross.
Carol and her husband moved to Dagsboro about 25 years ago. She loved the beach life, entertaining family and friends, and hosting holiday dinners.
She is survived by three sons, Steven Smith, Robert Smith and Tom Smith, as well as two sisters, Marie Cheety and Rita Smith. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

Patricia Forestieri, 79, of Lewes passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, surrounded by her children. She was born in Nottingham Twp., Pa., May 14, 1941.
Patricia lived a lifetime filled with many memorable experiences. Professionally, she held various administrative positions at different companies, including her first at DuPont in Wilmington, and her longest-running with the family landscaping business. Personally, she enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, boating, bowling and golf with her husband, crocheting cozy gifts for her family, card games and puzzles, and baking sweet treats, including her famous pizzelle cookies. The youngest of seven children, she was very practiced at “going with the flow” and was often happy to find her place enjoying and witnessing the pursuits of her children and grandchildren.

Miles Lee Riggin, 94, of Long Neck died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Crisfield, Md., Aug. 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Ercil Lee Riggin and the late Thelma Miles Riggin.
The Riggin family has deep roots in the Crisfield area dating back to the late 1600s. As a child, Miles attended the three-room Bedsworth Elementary School in Crisfield which had a potbelly stove and outhouse. As a teen, he moved with his parents to New Jersey where he lived much of his adult life. Following graduation from Plainfield High School in 1944, he proudly served in the Navy during World War II on the SS Antigua in the Pacific.

S/MSGT K.C. Hurry, USAF/Ret., 85, an 18-year resident of Milford, passed from this world Friday evening, Jan. 22, 2021. Sgt. Hurry was born April 20, 1935, in Monroeville, Ala., the eldest son of Moton Hurry and Cammie Taite. His remaining siblings are Mrs. Fanya Dozier and her husband, Mr. Michael Dozier of Tampa, Fla., and his sister, Ms. Chi Rica Hurry of Pensacola, Fla.
He is preceded in death by his son Barry A. Hurry.
Sgt. Hurry is survived by his only living child, his daughter, Sherry Hurry Hancock and his son-in-law, Daniel Hancock of Albuquerque, N.M., and a daughter-in-law Christina Hurry, along with two grandchildren, Amber and George Hurry. K.C. leaves behind numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Effie Aline Palese was born to Gus and Ethal Tarwater in Birmingham, Ala., in 1931. She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Paul Palese, through music. They were married in 1953 and lived first in Claymont and North Wilmington before retiring in Rehoboth.
Aline passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, weeks shy of her 90th birthday. She is survived by daughters Sherry and Blair; son-in-law, Enrico Coiera; and much-loved grandson, Lucca, who live in Sydney, Australia; four foster grandchildren, including Amelia; her brother, David Tarwater in Alabama; sister- and brother-in-law Doris and Robert McDaniel in Lancaster, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
