People with loved ones at the condo, missing or safe, should call 305-614-1819 to notify officials. Anyone who lives at the Champlain Towers and is safe is asked to complete a Wellness Check form to help the Miami-Dade County keep track of tenants.

First responders heard the voice of a woman trapped in the wreckage of the partly collapsed Florida condo building for hours in the immediate aftermath of the catastrophe but were unable to save her, a fire official said Thursday. Unfortunately, during our initial search-and-rescue efforts.we did hear audible sounds and they were searching for a female voice, it s what we heard for several hours, and eventually, we didn t hear her voice anymore, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Alan Cominsky told reporters during a press briefing.

President Joe Biden has returned to Washington after visiting Surfside, Fla., where he met with family members of the missing, and first responders in the deadly condo collapse.
The President pledged that families, first responders, and the community would have the federal government s support as long as it s needed, starting with financial help.
Biden said Washington will pick up 100% of the cost of this operation for at least the first 30 days.
