Davidson County sees slow down in COVID-19 vaccine appointments

At the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in December, the Davidson County Health Department filled its weekly appointments within minutes, with many voicing their disappointment of its availability.
This week, representatives from the Davidson County Health Department said they had slots left over.

“It is a combination of hitting the demand, plus there are many more providers in the community,” said Janna Walker, public health specialist at the Davidson County Health Department. “We have hit a place where we have gotten to those who were ready and waiting for a vaccine; now we have to get to the others who may not have been able to get the vaccine due to other issues.”

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. Davidson County Health Department is booking COVID-19 vaccine appointments all this week, and you can choose the brand of vaccine you want by picking the day of the week it is available. Health officials say demand for the vaccine has steadily dropped over the last two weeks, and they have around 900 Pfizer shots available.
Davidson County to continue with Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Davidson County Health Department will continue to administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine despite the report of several patients in the Raleigh/Durham area having adverse reactions on Thursday.
Representatives from the health department state they are aware of the reports, which promoted some vaccine providers to halt dispensing of the J & J COVID-19 shot, but an investigation by the Center for Disease Control has determined the vaccine is safe to administer.

“At this time the CDC recommends continuing dispensing of the J & J COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, the Davidson County Health Department will continue with plans to provide the J & J vaccine at a clinic on Saturday, April 10 to those who made appointments earlier in the week,” said representatives from the Davidson County Health Departm
