CNA photo May 15, 2021 Taipei, May 15 (CNA) Taiwan s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) raised the COVID-19 alert level for Taipei and New Taipei cities to Level 3 on Saturday, as the cities struggled to contain a spiraling number of domestic infections. The new alert will be effective from today through May 28, the CECC said. Under the CECC s four-tier alert system, a Level 3 alert means people are now required to wear masks at all times when they leave their homes, indoor gatherings of more than five people are not allowed, and outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people. Taiwan is currently at a Level 2 alert, but Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) said Wednesday that the alert level could be raised to 3 in the coming days depending on how the situation develops.
