Despite strong efforts made by the mainland, personnel exchanges and communication across the Strait remained extremely abnormal, said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. Since February this year, the Democratic Progressive Party authorities in Taiwan have continued to suspend visits by mainland residents and canceled a large number of direct flights, Zhu said, adding that such measures have severely impacted cross-Strait exchanges and communication in various sectors.
