Article content Another halt to in-person learning is currently unnecessary in Windsor-Essex even though the number of students dismissed because of potential classroom COVID-19 exposures equals those sent home ahead of the last school shutdown, the region’s top doctor said Tuesday.  While the whopping 600 students and 30 staff now in self-isolation following infections at 24 schools have put a strain on public health unit nurses, the number of positive cases within that group is much lower than in December, when Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed ordered schools to close. Multiple schools had significant outbreaks at that time, but, as of Tuesday morning, no local schools were in outbreak.

Thorncliffe Park PS remains closed as COVID-19 outbreak investigation continues by News Staff Thorncliffe Park Public School. CITYNEWS Public health officials have decided to to keep an East York school closed a few days longer as they continue to look into a COVID-19 outbreak. A letter to parents of students at Thorncliffe Park Public School said the school would be closed until Dec. 10 as a result of the outbreak, now Toronto Public Health says all students and staff have been advised to stay out of the building until next week. Important Update: @TOPublicHealth has advised that students & staff at Thorncliffe Park PS should continue to be dismissed for the remainder of the week so they may continue their investigation. As a result, Thorncliffe Park PS will reopen on Monday, December 14.
