Businessman wants NHS to try his UV-C sterilisers for fighting Covid

Andrew Fry set up Violegen to make sterilising units that kill germs using germicidal ultraviolet light (UV-C). The method kills most airborne and surface-laid viruses and bacteria including Covid-19, flu, e.coli and norovirus. But although similar technology is used in parts of the NHS, Mr Fry says he has not been able to get his machines into the public sector locally. The Poole-based managing director started producing them as a way of protecting staff in his other business, the insulation company Cellecta He said: “We are currently trying to supply these room sterilising units to the public sector but have come up again many barriers.

No further deaths from coronavirus in hospitals across Dorset

NO further deaths from coronavirus have been recorded in Dorset hospitals in the last 24 hours, NHS data has revealed.  During the pandemic, a total of 305 people have died after testing positive for the virus in the county’s hospitals. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals have recorded 68 deaths with 107 occurring in Poole Hospital. Elsewhere, Dorset County Hospital has confirmed 27 deaths with 32 reported by Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust. NHS officials have said that a further 266 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 46,388.
