WARREN Trumbull County has spent about 73 percent of the emergency pandemic funding it received through the federal CARES Act. The county was awarded about $10.5 million and through Feb. 5 has spent $7.698 million, leaving about $2.8 million in reserve, according to documents provided by the Trumbull County commissioners’ and auditor’s offices. After two of three commissioners committed Thursday to use some funds to build a structure for vaccine distribution, it appears about $8.098 million of the money has been spent or dedicated, leaving approximately $2.4 million. The building is expected to cost $400,000 or less.

I’d like to hug my grandchildren and my children. I haven’t been able to do that since March of last year. As a widow alone, that’s really depressing,” Sperling said.

Staff writer With demand for the COVID-19 vaccination exceeding supply, the state is slowing down its distribution schedule. That is why Wilson Carlisle of Brookfield wanted to make sure he was prepared. Carlisle, 96, drove to the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Bazetta on Tuesday to ensure he knew where he was going when he gets his vaccine on Thursday. The Trumbull County Combined Health District is sponsoring a drive-thru vaccine clinic starting today at the fairgrounds where they plan to vaccinate 400 people a day. The clinic is by appointment only and people wanting to get vaccinated are asked to call 330-675-7844 or visit tcchd.org. They ask you to leave your name, date of birth and phone number, and they will return your call.

Jan 20, 2021 BAZETTA Hundreds of people lined up Wednesday morning at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Trumbull County Combined Health District was able to provide nearly 550 shots to people 80 or older, but was also prepared to give more if necessary. “We’re looking to give out 550 but it could be 600. Some people may have gotten confused or are supposed to come tomorrow but came today, so we’re prepared to give out 600,” said Sandy Swann, the health district’s director of nursing. Starting at 9 a.m. the health department, and many volunteers, were prepared to distribute the vaccine. The plan was for the individuals getting the shot to remain in their vehicle and then pull in, two cars at a time, to the old Bazetta fire station.
