LOS ANGELES (KABC) For the past few years, the Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express has served the children of fallen military heroes. Normally, there would be smiles and laughter, with Gold Star families being treated like celebrities with a few days at Disneyland. The coronavirus put the brakes on the travel this year, but not the celebrity treatment.

Public feedback sought for proposed Vietnam War Memorial at state Capitol
SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public feedback on a proposal from a nonprofit, the Vietnam War Memorial Fund, to construct a memorial in the southwest corner of the State Capitol State Park in Salem.
The site is just south of the World War II memorial and west of the Capitol building in an area called Willson Park. The deadline for public feedback is January 22, 2021.
The project proposes to install sculptures, plaques, benches, and walkways to memorialize different aspects of the war and military service. It would be just south of the World War II memorial, the Parade of Animals play structure, and a gazebo.

Haleakala National Park will have free entry on six days next year.
The entrance fee-free days will be Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day; April 17, the first day of National Park Week; Aug. 4, Great American Outdoors Act anniversary; Aug. 25, the National Park Service birthday; Sept. 25, National Public Lands Day; and Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
The fee-free entrance days do not include sunrise reservations or admittance to the park between 3 and 7 a.m. People planning to view the sunrise at the park must make sunrise viewing reservations for $1 in advance at recreation.gov/ticket/facility/253731.
Active-duty military, Veteran and Gold Star Families, and 4th-grade students will continue to have free access to the park. Discounted passes are available for senior citizens. Fifth-grade students have been granted a reprieve through this academic year because some of last year’s 4th-graders may have been unable to make full use of the Every Kid Outdoors Annual Fourth Grade Pass due to

Not many people wanted a giant blizzard to roll through just a week short of Christmas. It does however; serve as a sobering reminder behind the National Wreaths Across America project coming to Five cemeteries in Rome this Saturday, December 19.
Wreaths Across America currently making it s 29th trip down the East Coast, began after a popular picture of wreaths laid on snow covered soldiers graves at Arlington National Cemetery sparked the idea . Today, wreaths are laid at more than 25-hundred locations across America, including several at Central New York cemeteries, and of course, at Arlington National Cemetery, each December.
