Ukraine intends to agree with KfW on EUR 36.5 mln financing to develop social infrastructure 1 min read
The Cabinet of Ministers intends to sign several additional agreements between the government, the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) and the German state bank KfW on the development of social infrastructure in the country for the amount of EUR 36.5 million.
The relevant draft documents were adopted at a government meeting on Wednesday.
In particular, a draft supplementary agreement to the agreement dated April 19, 2018 signed with KfW for UAH 9 million was approved for the Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development Project; a draft supplementary agreement to the agreement dated May 20, 2019 signed with KfW for the amount of EUR 14.45 million for the Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov promised to release the concept of the Crimean Tatar language development until 2032 within a week. Context
With over 90 per cent of Ukrainian households owning their homes, the right to housing is particularly dear to the country’s citizens. Article 47 of the Constitution of Ukraine requires the state housing policy to “create conditions that enable each citizen to build, buy or lease housing.” State and local governments may also need to provide free or affordable housing for citizens requiring social protection. Yet for Ukraine’s over 1.4 million registered IDPs who fled the conflict that began in 2014 in Eastern Ukraine, housing remains one of the most pressing challenges inhibiting their ability to find a durable solution, particularly for those who have been living with host families or in cramped, modular or collective accommodation for over six years.

The State Enterprise Reintegration and Reconstruction of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine was appointed responsible for the arrangement, maintenance and service of all checkpoints of entry-exit on the demarcation line in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and on the administrative border with the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as the territories adjacent to the control points.
As reported on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Reintegration, the relevant decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting on Monday. The state enterprise Reintegration and Reconstruction will deal with this together with the Donetsk and Luhansk regional civil-military administrations and the Kherson regional state administration.
