MUMBAI: India reported its smallest daily increase in coronavirus infections in nearly three weeks on Saturday, with deaths still near the 4,000-mark, but federal health officials said cases and fatalities are rapidly stabilising in this wave of the pandemic.
The overall rate of positive cases per tests had dipped to 19.8pc this week from 21.9pc last week, federal health officials said in a briefing, but warned that cautiousness must continue.

The Delhi Police has registered 25 FIRs and arrested as many people for allegedly pasting posters critical of PM Modi.
The AAP on Sunday owned up to putting up posters in many parts of the city criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the shortage of COVID-19 vaccine, and said that its several workers were arrested and hundreds were being harassed by Delhi Police.

Delhi reports 6,500 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, positivity rate drops to 11 pc: Kejriwal
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, Delhi has reported 6,500 new COVID-19 cases, and the positivity rate has further gone down to 11 per cent.
Addressing a digital press conference here, Mr Kejriwal said, Today, even lesser cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Delhi. In the past 24 hours, 6,500 cases have come up. Yesterday, we had 8,500 cases.
He said in the last 24 hours, the infection rate has declined even further to 11 per cent, while it was 12 per cent yesterday.
