NT COVID-19 Infringement – Breach of CHO Direction
Northern Territory Police issued an infringement notice to a man from New South Wales yesterday for failing to wear a mask in an airport.
Police were assisting NT Health officials at Gove Airport with an incoming flight from Cairns when they noticed a man in the departure lounge who was not wearing a mask, as required under the Chief Health Officer Directions.
Incident Controller, Acting Commander Sachin Sharma said the man had been provided a mask on checking in, but had declined to wear it. He was issued a second mask by police before being allowed to board his flight.

The 64-year-old entered the Territory via the South Australian border without submitting an online border entry form. He arrived at the Yulara campground where staff found the man had been in a hotspot area within the last 14 days, and contacted police. Acting Commander Sachin Sharma said the man was given a $5056 fine and sent immediately to the Alice Springs quarantine facility.
