THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Collector Navjot Khosa met with all returning officers in the district on Tuesday to review the arrangements of polling booths and postal votes in each constituency.
A total of 4,164 polling stations, including auxiliary booths, are getting readied. Khosa told the returning officers to ensure there are adequate facilities at all polling booths.

The Save University Campaign Committee has petitioned the Election Commission alleging that the State government had breached the model code of conduct by nominating six members to the Syndicate of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU).
The Higher Education Department had nominated former MP P.K. Biju, CPI (M) district committee member I. Saju and four others to the Syndicate on February 26, the day the Election Commission had announced the schedule of Assembly polls.

The Election Commission has identified 298 Left-wing extremism-affected locations in five northern Kerala districts ahead of the April 6 Assembly polls. The polling booths in these locations will have one hour less for polling, said Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena here on Saturday.
In addition to the 298 extremism-affected locations, election officials have identified 549 critical locations, and 433 vulnerable locations in the State. The LWE-hit locations are in Wayanad, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts.
While the polling time has been fixed as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the State, in the extremism-affected locations it will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mr. Meena said.

Postal ballots will be issued to personnel in notified essential services, including health officials, police, and journalists, for the upcoming Assembly elections, Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said on Saturday.
The earlier decision was to issue postal ballots to voters in the ‘Absentee Voter’ category, which included 80-plus voters, the differently abled, the COVID-19-positive and service voters.
Notified essential services include health, police and prison officials; fire and rescue service personnel; excise, Milma, water and power supply, forest, State road transport and treasury services staff; and staff of Central government institutions such as All India Radio, Doordarshan, BSNL, Railways, and Post and Telegraph.

State has placed a request for 150 companies
Thirty companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have arrived in the State ahead of the April 6 Assembly elections. Kerala has placed a request for 150 companies this time, a majority of which will be deployed in critical and vulnerable areas of the State.
The deployment of Central forces are being finalised by a committee consisting of the Chief Electoral Officer, State police nodal officer and State CAPF coordinator to ensure optimal and impartial use of the forces.
