MICROSOFT Philippines, Inc. is looking to bring conversational artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to health-care institutions in the country to help them address their patients’ needs, a top official said.
Abid Zaidi, Microsoft Philippines chief operating officer, told
BusinessWorld in a virtual interview on April 30 that the US-based multinational technology company Microsoft Corp. recently entered into an agreement to acquire Nuance Communications, Inc., a conversational AI solutions provider, for “close to $20 billion.”
“What this means for the Philippines is that, although we have been engaging with health-care institutions here, with AI technology, we’ll be better geared up to address their needs,” he said.

(Bloomberg) The U.S. government told its citizens to get out of India as soon as possible as the country’s Covid-19 crisis worsens at an astonishing pace.
In a Level 4 travel advisory - the highest of its kind issued by the State Department U.S. citizens were told “not to travel to India or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so.” There are 14 direct daily flights between India and the U.S. and other services that connect through Europe, the department said.
