This morning Mark and I kicked off a new contest you are all going to love. We just found out that the Restaurant Impossible episode that was filmed at Don Luis back in September is airing tonight (1/7) at 7 PM on the Food Network. Were you at the taping? Rumor has it, the author of this story made it into the episode (I m the dude in the red shirt chomping down on an ear of sweet corn). The fleet of buses, cameras and reality TV film crew members have been gone for a little over a week now after the Restaurant Impossible team rolled into Billings to tape an episode of the series at Don Luis Restaurant. The premise of the Food Network show is that host, chef Robert Irvine, and his crew spends 48 hours and $10,000 revamping restaurants that need help.
There were also pieces of furniture a fabulous
aparador for which you had to have a spare P2 million before you raise your hand. A Cordillera
hagabi, a rather ungainly prestige bench (the seat is slanted so you could slide down), fetched an incredible P22 million. Sculpture,
santos, drawings, historical documents, maps were also on offer and fetched similarly high prices.

At that rate, ordinary mortals particularly young people early on their career paths need to strategize to collect art. I suppose most want to live with things they like, to feel they got their money’s worth, and to expect an increase in the value of their stuff.
