Delhi Transport Dept issues Show Cause Notice to Tata Motors over complaint from Nexon EV owner for not getting more than 200km range ever
New Delhi: The Delhi transport department has issued a show-cause notice to Tata Motors, seeking its reply in connection with a complaint that one of its electric car models failed to meet the specified range on a single charge, officials said.
The complainant claimed that the model (Nexon EV) of the electric car purchased by him from a dealer at the Safdarjung Enclave and registered on December 3, 2020 has failed to provide the specified 312-km range on a single charge, a senior transport department officer said.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi transport department has issued a show-cause notice to Tata Motors, seeking its reply in connection with a complaint that one of its electric car models failed to meet the specified range on a single charge, officials said.
The complainant claimed that the model (Nexon EV) of the electric car purchased by him from a dealer at the Safdarjung Enclave and registered on December 3, 2020 has failed to provide the specified 312-km range on a single charge, a senior transport department officer said. It has been informed that while the vehicle model is specified to provide a 312-km range on a single charge, the vehicle owned by the said customer has never provided a range of more than 200 km, the show-cause notice issued to Tata Motors read.
US-based electric vehicles (EV) giant Triton, which competes with Rivian, Tesla and other luxury EV makers, is looking to launch its N4 electric sedan in India. The electric car is said to be more economical than Tesla’s most affordable option Model 3. It will have four different variants and high-performance limited edition in the country.
“The base model will be priced at Rs 35 Lakh thus, showing the amount of market research that has been put by the company to cater the requirements of the Indian market. As we are heading towards a new era of commitment towards our environment, EVs are going to make a definitive contribution in building a future-ready society. We aim to make our sincere contribution towards ensuring a future-ready society with environmentally friendly clean energy practices,” the company said.
The Delhi government may also consider removing the Tata Nexon EV from the list of electric vehicles eligible to receive subsidies under the purview of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020.
