Ex-DHS chief Chad Wolf ratifies policies in latest attempt to fix legal mess
Former acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf ratified his own policies and several controversial Trump immigration measures, in a last-ditch effort to overcome legal challenges that threatened his tenure.
Wolf stepped down Monday amid legal turmoil over his authority to lead the department, leaving Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Peter Gaynor to serve as acting secretary in the final days of the Trump administration. However, Wolf remained at the department in his Senate-confirmed undersecretary of policy role.
Multiple courts have ruled that Wolf was unlawfully serving as the acting secretary of DHS, prompting his attempts now to save these policies.
