Liberal Senator Alex Antic has called for both a comprehensive review into the ABC and the establishment of a standing ombudsman for the public broadcaster.
The ABC has once again come under fire at Senate Estimates for perceived bias and contraventions of its charter in terms of impartiality.
Senator Antic posed questions to ABC’s Managing Director David Anderson over potential biases including those featured in the national broadcaster’s coverage of the recent Hamas-Israel conflict.
The ABC “swings to the favour” of the terrorist organisation Hamas and is “institutionally anti-Semitic” in its coverage of the ongoing conflict, Senator Antic said during Senate Estimates.

MP Deplatformed by Facebook Proposes New Law to Rein in Big Tech
Barely a day after being banished from Facebook, Australian MP Craig Kelly has acted swiftly to propose a new Bill that will seek to rein in the power of Big Tech companies like Facebook.
The Independent Member for Hughes is basing the Bill on a similar law passed overnight in Florida that will penalise social media companies if they remove political candidates from their platform, a practice also known as de-platforming.
According to the Florida law, tech giants like Google, Facebook, or Twitter face fines of around $100,000 per day for each day a state-wide candidate is banned from their platform, and $10,000 fines for other candidates.
UK study calls for scrapping of unconscious bias training01/04/2021|4min
Liberal Senator Alex Antic says a recent UK study suggesting unconscious bias training ought to be scrapped gives you a bit of hope these sorts of things can get wound back .
The UK Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities says though racism exists in British society, things such as unconscious bias training should be scrapped and replaced with more effective practices.
They say Britain is wrongly applying the accusation of racism when it might be an everyday disagreement or disparity. I ve never understood the reality of unconscious bias. I like to think any biases I ve got I m quite consciously pushing, and they re not very significant ones, Mr Antic said.
