Compass Ireland commits to net zero by 2030

May 24, 2021 12:01 pm Compass Group Ireland has announced its commitment to reach ‘net zero’ greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its own operations and its value chain by 2030. This is the food service industry’s first commitment to a climate net zero economy, with the company announcing changes to ensure that sustainability is a core business objective across all services. They include the launch of an investment fund of €1 million for the UK and Irish business to support the development of carbon reduction and sustainable food production initiatives. A reduction in carbon emissions of at least 55% by 2025, and at least 65% across its operations and value chain by 2030, from a 2019 baseline, will also be achieved.

New Managing Director at Compass Group Ireland May 12, 2021 Compass Group Ireland, one of the largest foodservice businesses in the country, has announced the appointment of Deirdre O’Neill as Managing Director, effective from July. O’Neill joined Compass Group in 2016 as Marketing Director and was appointed to the new role of Future Food Offer Director earlier this year.  She succeeds Chris Chidley, who has been promoted to Chief Growth Officer for Compass Group UK & Ireland.  Chidley will also retain the role of Chairman of Compass Group Ireland . Announcing Deirdre O’Neill’s appointment, Chris Chidley said that he and O’Neill have worked closely to ensure a smooth transition and have implemented a strong organisational foundation on which to build on the island of Ireland.

According to the research, food supply and restaurant provision featured strongly in terms of what employees feel supports wellbeing in the office. Access to coffee, convenient refreshments and healthy meals in the workplace topped the list of factors contributing to workplace wellbeing. For those who normally enjoy food services within their workplace, 80% said it helped them eat more healthily at work and 88% believed eating healthily on a daily basis impacted how they felt at work. The research results come as Compass Group Ireland has launched its new Feedr app on the Dublin market, a Cloud canteen service in which employers can have healthy food delivered to the office or employees’ homes.
