Women s groups welcomed the move, but warned the chilling effect of Trump s expanded version of the policy will take years to reverse

President Joe Biden has revoked the controversial anti-abortion “global gag rule” in the latest round of executive orders aimed at unravelling the Trump administration’s health policies.
The rule, officially called the “Mexico City policy”, prohibited international charities from receiving United States funding if they provided education, referrals or services for legal abortions – even if they did not use the US money for those specific services.

Caroline Herman, 43, and her 14-year-old daughter Cara have set up a project to provide much needed period products to girls and women who may be struggling locally to access their own during the coronavirus pandemic. The All Yours project has seen hundreds of period boxes being delivered to women locally, as one charity revealed many women have been forced to find alternatives to sanitary wear including socks, newspapers, and toilet roll.
