Management of Alleyâs General Store changing hands
Levandowskis, owners of LeRoux stores, will take over while Vineyard Trust retains ownership.

A historic West Tisbury store â a frequent stop on the Obama family’s presidential vacations on-Island â is undergoing a change in management.
In a press release issued Thursday, Vineyard Trust, which owns Alleyâs General Store along with 19 other historic landmarks on the Island, announced a partnership with the owners of LeRoux â Michael and April Levandowski. The Levandowskis will license and operate the general store in West Tisbury.
The store has been under the management of the Vineyard Trust, which has found it difficult to maintain the inventory and to generate a profit, Funi Burdick, CEO and president of Vineyard Trust, told The Times. The Levandowskis initially offered to provide training, and ultimately that led to discussions about them leasing

‘They are our neighbors’: Homeless shelter sees ‘phenomenal successâ
With homelessness still prevalent on-Island, Harbor Homes provides support, and plans for the future.

Homelessness continues to be a major issue on-Island, with financial struggles of COVID, and winter weather exacerbating the danger for folks who do not have adequate and consistent living situations.
In January, Harbor Homes took the helm of homelessness prevention and remediation on Marthaâs Vineyard, with support from the county, Marthaâs Vineyard Hospital, Marthaâs Vineyard Bank, two family foundations, Bad Martha Farmerâs Brewery, Marthaâs Vineyard Community Services, and others.
