New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (June 5, 2021) said that India has set an example in the world when it comes to protecting the environment, adding that the country’s capacity for renewable energy has increased by more than 250 percent in 6-7 years.
While addressing a virtual meeting on Word Environment Day, jointly organized by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, PM Modi said, “Today, India is setting an example in front of the world that when it comes to protecting the environment. aShri Badrinath Dham, one of the four holy Himalayan shrines in Uttarakhand, will be developed as a Spiritual Smart Hill Town .
The oil and gas public sector undertakings (PSUs) including IndianOil, BPCL, HPCL, ONGC and GAIL have signed memoranda of understandings (MoUs) with Shri Badrinath Utthan Charitable Trust for construction and redevelopment of Shri Badrinath Dham as a Spiritual Smart Hill Town.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the Hindi translation of the book ‘Odisha Itihaas’ written by ‘Utkal Keshari’ Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab. The book, available in Odia and English so far, has been translated into Hindi by Shri. Shankarlal Purohit. Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab MP(LS), Cuttack were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister recalled that about one and a half years ago the country celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of ‘Utkal Keshari’ Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab. Dedicating the Hindi edition of his famous ‘Odisha Itihaas’, Shri Modi said that that it is important that the diverse and comprehensive history of Odisha should reach the people of the country.
