MUMBAI: The campaign held over years for the construction of Lord Ram s temple in Ayodhya was aimed at helping Hindus rid their defeatist mentality , senior Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said here on Tuesday.
Fadnavis, who is the Leader of Opposition in the state Legislative Assembly, made these remarks while speaking at a function to launch a book written by state BJP vice president Madhav Bhandari on the Ayodhya movement.

Bengaluru, Dec 22 : The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will rope in over five lakh volunteers to start a door-to-door fundraising drive in Karnataka from January 15 to February 27 next year, to build a grand Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Central Working President of the VHP, Alok Kumar said here on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters here, Kumar who is also the chief of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust s Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan, said that the VHP will form one lakh groups, comprising five volunteers each, who will go to 27,500 villages in the state and contact 90 lakh devotees for obtaining the Nidhi Samarpan (fund for temple).

PRAYAGRAJ: Seers, saints and volunteers of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will reach out to 12 crore Hindu families in five lakh villages across the country between Makar Sankranti (January 15, 2021) and Maghi Purnima (February 27) to urge public participation in the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and collection of funds for it.
VHP volunteers will meet the President, Vice President and Prime Minister on January 15, 2021 marking the launch of the campaign.
The campaign also aims to connect people with Ram temple and to brief youngsters about the history of Ram Janmabhoomi struggle.
The temple will be constructed by Larson and Toubro at a cost of about Rs 300-400 crore.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will launch one of the biggest fundraising campaigns on January 14 for the construction of the Ayodhya Ram temple, covering half of the country’s population.
The Trust, which is facilitating the construction, said nearly 4 lakh volunteers will cover 55 crore people (11 crore families) in 5 lakh villages during the whirlwind campaign of 44 days ending on February 27, the first day of holy bath in the Kumbh Mela.
“People will be made aware of the historical significance of the Janmabhoomi movement. The Trust has envisaged that just as crores of Rambhakts contributed for the freedom of Ram Janmabhoomi, the temple shall also be built with their voluntary contributions,” read a tweet by the Trust. The families will also be given photos of the proposed Ram temple model.
