Myanmar security forces have shot dead at least 30 people during protests against the military coup in the past month, which ended Myanmar s tentative steps towards democratic rule, triggering nationwide protests and international dismay. As per reports, the violence came a day after foreign ministers from Southeast Asian neighbors urged restraint but failed to unite behind a call for the military to release ousted government leader Aung San Suu Kyi and restore democracy.

Union power minister RK Singh today denied reports of cyberattacks behind the Mumbai blackout last year and said it was caused due to human error .

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today surged ahead of Congress in the Gujarat civic body polls.
BJP won 2,085 seats gaining a lead ahead of Congress which won 602 seats so far across various municipalities, district and taluka panchayats in Gujarat. The results for 2,771 seats out of the total 8,474 were declared till 1 pm. Counting of votes is underway since 9 am in 81 municipalities, 31 district panchayats, and 231 taluka panchayats where elections were held on Sunday. Read more
