Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman, who two weeks ago was credited with potentially saving lives when he diverted members of the mob who stormed the building away from the Senate chamber, escorted Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to the inaugural platform.
WASHINGTON (AP) A Capitol police officer hailed as a hero for his actions during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol is accompanying Vice President-elect Kamala Harris at the inauguration of Harris and President-elect Joe Biden.
Officer Eugene Goodman, a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, confronted the insurrectionists and led them away from Senate chambers moments after Vice President Mike Pence was escorted from the Senate chamber as the rioters stormed the Capitol.

US President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday announced transgender pediatrician Rachel Levine as his nominee for assistant health secretary, in a historic move contrasting to policies of Donald Trump s often seen as discriminatory.
The incoming administration has nominated Levine currently secretary of health in Pennsylvania to serve as assistant secretary of health at the Department of Health and Human Services, Biden s transition office said.
