Gautam and Allivand Honored as Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Student of the Month for April 2021

Posted by jimreagan on Congratulations to Neel Gautam and Cameron Allivand of Durant High School who have been selected as the April 2021 Shamrock Bank Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Student of the month. Gautam, a senior,  has been a stalwart of the Lion tennis team. A four year varsity player, Neel has fashioned a 20-7 record this season and has never finished below third place in any of the tournaments. “Neel is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached,” DHS tennis coach Jonathan Rodriguez said. ” He is also an amazing teammate. He is willing to help out his team and cheer them on all the time.”

Young pilot spreads her wings at SOSU By Addison Martin From the age of 16, Reagan Benson knew that she wanted to be a pilot. Before that, she never had any experience and none of her family piloted planes or studied aviation. It was not until she was able to fly in a small aircraft in high school when she felt like she knew what she wanted to do for a career. Originally from Paris, Texas, Benson is now making that dream a reality as she is studying aviation at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant with the hope of becoming a professional pilot.

Cove runner valued faith when selecting college

When considering her options for where to attend college and continue her track and cross country career, Copperas Cove High School senior Breonna Reese had on priority in mind: Her Christian faith. On Feb. 3, Reese joined six of her peers and signed a letter of intent to compete at Abilene Christian University in Abilene. “I feel like that was really important that I choose a school that will lift me up academically and spiritually, so that was really one of the main focuses,” Reese said in a phone interview on Feb. 13. Describing Abilene Christian as a “dream school,” Reese said she fell in love with the community feel of the campus and what the school stood for.
