Southeastern Grocers Inc., the parent company of Winn-Dixie, is selling 8.9 million shares of stock in an initial public offering that will continue to leave a group of investment firms in control. All of the shares are being sold by the investment firms, with the Jacksonville-based company not receiving any proceeds from the IPO. An updated registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Jan. 21 shows Fidelity Investments with 21% of Southeastern Grocers’ stock. It will continue to own 20.9% after selling a small number of shares in the IPO. A company controlled by Lone Star Funds is selling about 4.35 million shares, reducing its stake from 11.6% to 1.5%.

Share: Southeastern Grocers, Inc. ( Southeastern Grocers or the Company ) today announced the launch of an initial public offering of 8,900,000 shares of its common stock to be sold by certain of its stockholders, at an anticipated initial public offering price between $14.00 and $16.00 per share, pursuant to a registration statement on Form S-1 previously filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (the SEC ). The Company is not selling any shares in the offering. The selling stockholders intend to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,335,000 shares of the Company s common stock. The Company has applied to list the shares of common stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SEGR.

The store will reopen at the Shoppes of St. Johns Parkway in St. Johns in the second quarter of this year 2021, company officials with Earth Fare and commercial real estate owner and developer Sleiman Enterprises announced last Thursday. Jan. 14.  “This is a growing area and desirable location with great demographics, so we are excited to call St. Johns home again, said Randy Talley, co-founder, chief sustainability officer, and director of leasing at Earth Fare, said in a Jan. 14 news release.

While a couple of large Jacksonville companies entered 2021 with initial public offerings pending, several smaller firms also filed plans for stock sales late last year. The latest is a company called Van Zant House Inc., owner of a Westside Jacksonville property where brothers Ronnie, Johnny and Donnie Van Zant grew up. It’s an iconic site for Southern Rock music fans. Ronnie was a founder and lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, who died with five others in 1977 when the band’s plane crashed in Mississippi. When the band reformed 10 years later, his younger brother Johnny took over as lead singer.
