A Southeastern Louisiana University student charged with stabbing her date in a dorm room over the weekend has bonded out of the Tangipahoa Parish jail. The victim, Draven Upchurch, a junior at Louisiana State University, was critically hurt and was left fighting to stay alive. A university police report says the stabbing happened on the third floor of Louisiana Hall around 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Upchurch’s mother says he was stabbed eight times, including in the lungs and stomach. She wrote on Facebook, “ I am ready to bring everyone out of the dark on Draven s incident. I refuse to use the word accident because what happened was not an accident.”

Louisiana College Student Who Stabbed Dating Partner 8 Times In Dorm Released On Bond 04/08/21 AT 5:24 PM A female student at Southeastern Louisiana University, who was arrested for stabbing her dating partner early Saturday, has been released on bond, according to reports. Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, of Folsom, Louisiana, was charged with aggravated battery of a male student who attends Louisiana State University and who had been visiting the Southeastern Louisiana University campus. It is unclear how long Johnson and the victim had been dating.  Johnson was booked at Tangipahoa Parish Jail before her release on bond. At about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, campus police responded to a call from a third party about a disturbance at a coed dorm and found the victim had been stabbed eight times. The victim, who survived the attack after being listed in critical condition, was taken to the trauma center at nearby North Oaks Hospital.

Reports said the incident happened on the Southeastern campus April 3, putting Draven Upchurch a junior at LSU in the hospital. Police said Upchurch s girlfriend, 18-year-old Elizabeth Grace Johnson, is facing a charge of aggravated battery. Both students were initially taken to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, but Johnson was later booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. The victim s family said earlier this week that Upchurch is still hospitalized in critical condition.
