Sarasota County s PGT Innovations to bring 240 jobs to Fort Myers hub

The largest private employer in Sarasota County is making in-roads into Lee County. PGT Innovations, which stands for “Progressive Glass Technology” and makes windows and doors, has agreed to a five-year lease of a new, 130,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Lee County off Ben Hill Griffin Road, not far from Southwest Florida International Airport. The building, known as Meridian Center North, is located at 10400 Meridian Center Parkway and has a current tenant in Wayfair, with PGT Innovations to take over the remaining space. PGT Innovations already has confirmed the hiring of 100 new workers for what should generate about 240 jobs. The factory will be operational by June and modified over the rest of the year.

Cellphone store burglary suspect caught with suitcase at RSW airport

A Sheriff s Office report said the break-in at the locked business resulted in the theft of more than $10,000 worth of electronics including cell phones and Apple AirPods. Sheriff s Office detectives developed Primer as a suspect and learned he was planning to leave Fort Myers on a plane. The Lee County Port Authority was alerted and located Primer on Tuesday afternoon, suitcase in tow. While being transported to Lee County Jail, Primer threatened deputies, the arrest report noted.
