Farmer s homes plan rejected );
);
AN unspoilt field between Henley and Harpsden where a developer wants to build 100 homes will not be earmarked in the latest draft of the parishes’ joint neighbourhood plan.
Henley Town Council, which is overseeing the revision of the housing blueprint, has declined to shortlist the eight-hectare plot at Lucy’s Farm, on Drawback Hill off Gillotts Lane, because it says more suitable sites are available.
When it invited landowners to submit proposals last autumn, Bloor Homes came forward with a plan for up to 100 units which it said could go in the centre of the field with planting around the edge to screen it from public view.

Call for night-time trial ban of HGVs );
);
A PROSPECTIVE councillor has called for a trial of a night-time ban on heavy goods lorries coming through Henley.
Paul Harrison was responding to the campaign for the introduction of a
7.5-tonne weight limit on Henley Bridge to prevent HGVs using the town as a “rat run”.
Later this month, Stefan Gawrsyiak, Henley’s representative on Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, is due to propose this in a motion.
Now Mr Harrison, a Conservative who will be challenging Councillor Gawrysiak (Henley Residents Group) in the council elections in May, has suggested the trial.
Green councillor to share new role of ‘tree champion’ );
);
A PARISH councillor in Goring Heath has been appointed a “tree champion” by South Oxfordshire District Council.
Peter Dragonetti, who represents Kidmore End and Whitchurch ward on the authority, will promote woodland conservation and tree-growing schemes and help officers produce a tree strategy.
Councillor Dragonetti, who represents the Green party, will share the role with Conservative councillor Ian Snowdon, who chairs the council’s planning committee.
The pair will educate the public about how trees protect the environment and can improve people’s health. They will also speak to community groups and town or parish councils about making the most of the statutory protections applied to trees.
