The Southeast Governors’ Forum yesterday appealed to secessionists in the zone to give it six months to negotiate solutions to their grievances with the Federal Government.
The chairman of the forum, Dave Umahi, made the plea at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday while featuring on the regular Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team.
He said he, alongside his colleagues in the zone, had asked the youths to present their demands “in prints and hand over to us.”
He said the failure of past governments to properly deal with the issue of marginalization gave rise to the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, came under attacks yesterday for comparing open grazing to spare parts.
Malami, in an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, had likened the southern governors’ resolution at its recent meeting in Asaba, Delta State, to ban open grazing to prohibiting spare parts trading in the north.
According to hum, the decision to ban open grazing “does not hold water” in the context of human rights as enshrined in the constitution.

The South-east governors will soon engage the federal government over the issue of marginalisation which has pitted the restive youths in the geo-political zone against the state governments, Chairman of the South-east Governors’ Forum and Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Dave Umahi, has said.
Umahi assured the agitating youth in the zone that all their grievances will be looked into with a view to resolving them within six months.
