Florida s Blue-Green Algae Task Force has been meeting in West Palm Beach to discuss ways to combat toxic algae that s been plaguing our waterways.
Environmental activist Mike Elfenbein weighed in on the issue. I m frustrated today, because there s 13,000 metric tons of nasty pollutant in Lake Okeechobee and there is nowhere where you could illustrate or document that any of that has been removed, mitigated or addressed.
After listening to presentations at the headquarters of the South Florida Water Management District, the task force heard from members of the public, including people affected by a recent week-long water advisory in West Palm Beach and two other municipalities, linked to a toxin from blue-green algae.
