NHS car break-in at The Ridgeway A PARAMEDIC in Oxfordshire has spoken of his shock and distress after discovering that thieves had smashed into his car and stolen his work equipment – on the day the nation celebrated NHS 73rd birthday and said thank you to frontline heroes. James Loakes, who works for South Central Ambulance Service, was enjoying a walk at The Ridgeway just after 9pm ahead of his night shift, when his white Nissan was broken into and rear window shattered. Critical ambulance personal protective equipment was stolen, along with his uniform and a few personal items, which the 33-year-old who is based in Wantage had left in the vehicle.
