Church wall destroyed after driver crashes in Southampton

A SOUTHAMPTON church wall has been destroyed following a crash last night. The outside wall and gate at St James Church by the Park in Shirley has been demolished after a driver crashed into the church gate at 1.49am this morning. The driver, a woman in her 20s who is thought to have suffered injuries to their ribs, left her contact details under the church door. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The church, on St James Road, said in a post on Facebook: Please do pray for the person who accidentally crashed their car into one of the church gate posts last night - they suffered a couple of broken ribs.

Naked man spotted walking across cars in Southampton

Officers finally found him in Paynes Road at around 12.30pm where they restrained him. It is believed he had taken the illegal drug LSD. He was later handed over to paramedics and rushed to hospital. As previously reported, a post on the Shirley Police Facebook page said: Towards the end of the morning we saw the effects that LSD can have. A male in his 20s we suspect had taken this substance, we located on Paynes Road, completely naked, screaming and shouting with injuries to his body from a fall or several falls. We remained with him to monitor his medical condition until Paramedics took over and gave him the care needed. We wish him well and hope his lesson on illegal drug use are learnt. Officers had been carrying out patrols in the Shirley on Monday morning.

According to officers, the man they believe to be in his 20s had taken the drug LSD and fallen over. He was reportedly handed over to paramedics for medical treatment.
