By SHANZEH AHMAD | The Wisconsin State Journal | Published: February 21, 2021 (Tribune News Service) Both victims of a Tuesday plane crash in Janesville were celebrated pilots, and one was a valued member of the Madison-based Wisconsin Air National Guard 115th Fighter Wing and a decorated veteran. Staff Sgt. Remington K. Viney, 26, of Kimberly, and Tanner W. Byholm, 25, of Glidden, died in the crash about a mile south of the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport shortly before 9:20 a.m. Tuesday. It was no secret that Staff Sgt. Viney had a passion for flying, the 115th Fighter Wing said in a Facebook post. Viney began her military career with the Wisconsin Air National Guard in December 2013 after graduating with honors from Sun Prairie High School in 2012. She enlisted as a crew chief and was assigned to the 115th Fighter Wing. In 2018, she began working full-time in the command post.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victims of a fatal Rock county plane crash. Authorities report the plane crash occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. last Tuesday south of the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport near happy Hallow Park in the Town of Rock. The two occupants found deceased were 26-year-old Remington K. Viney of Kimberly, and 25-year-old Tanner W. Byholm of Glidden. The Rock Co. Sheriff’s Office confirmed the final pieces of the wreckage were removed from Happy Hollow Park on Thursday night. The plane was on its way from Appleton to Florida, stopping at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport to refuel. After departing, the pilot reported engine problems and intended to return to the airport. The NTSB, FAA, Rock County Sheriff’s Office and medical Examiner’s Department is investigating.

A victim of Tuesday s plane crash in Janesville was a valued member of the 115th Fighter Wing and a decorated veteran.
Staff Sgt. Remington K. Viney, 26, of Kimberly, was identified by the Rock County Medical Examiner s Office Friday as one of two people who died in the crash about a mile south of the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport shortly before 9:20 a.m. Tuesday. The other victim was Tanner W. Byholm, 25, of Glidden.
Staff Sgt. Remington K. Viney, 26, and Tanner W. Byholm, 25, most recently a member of the Air Force Reserves, died in a crash about a mile south of the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport on Tuesday.
