Danielle Perry, owner of Pharmacy Express in Houma, said all of the doses at her drug store were spoken for. We just went through our normal appointment process, and everyone who made an appointment will get one, Perry said. I ll start giving them out on Wednesday.
Sina Ramezani, pharmacist in charge at Wolfe s Pharmacy in Chauvin, said the store received more than 700 calls Monday and the phone kept ringing Tuesday. I wish we had more vaccines sent to us so we could help everyone, he said.
Ramezani said the drug store had enough staff to handle phone calls, but there was added pressure since this was the first day open after the New Year s holidays.

In a Wednesday news conference Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar urged governors to get COVID-19 vaccines into as many people as possible as quickly as possible, and not let perfection be the enemy of the good.
The initial focus has been on vaccinating health care workers and nursing home residents. But with as much as 70% of distributed vaccines still sitting on pharmacy shelves, Azar said the focus should shift to vaccinating more people rather than on precisely who is getting the shots.
He praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for allowing senior citizens to have access to the shots alongside health care workers.
