Through it all, every single WFPS staff member has exhibited an inspiring amount of resiliency, dedication, and compassion for students and their colleagues. As a district and as professionals, we were faced with many unknowns, and when asked to do more or do it differently, our educators and support staff have done so while maintaining a focus on student success and w
National Teacher Appreciation Week was certainly an overdue celebration to the many teachers, administrators, and staff that continued adjusting to last year s everchanging challenges.
With the end of appreciation week coming to a close on Friday, festivities remain far from over. This year for Mother s Day we take a look at one example of the strength a kindergarten teacher in Onslow County found to continue not only her efforts as an educator but celebrating pulling double duty as a mother.

No one has to tell you this year has been tough, but it has been especially tough for those in the performing arts. With our livelihoods in danger, we had to get creative in the way we make music, tell stories, and create experiences for both our company members and our community. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the wonderful, resilient, patient and talented cast, crew, and creative team I have had the pleasure of creating this piece of art. Making a movie musical during a pandemic, with theatre closures, COVID-19 scares, late materials, snow days, re-casting, and schedule changes has been the reality of trying to create performance opportunities at a time when performing, in the traditional sense, cannot happen.
