The COVID-19 virus has infected over 100 million people and caused over two million deaths globally. Nigeria has recorded over 150,000 infections and 1,831 deaths as of February 21.
Scientists have successfully developed vaccines proven to be effective against the virus. Some countries have also began the vaccination of their citizens against the deadly virus.
Amidst the pandemic, there is also a setback in the fight against Ebola as more countries are reporting new cases.
Nigeria, however, said it has put several measures in place to prevent and mitigate the impact of a potential Ebola outbreak in the country.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) was originally established as National Commission for Refugees by Decree 52 of 1989, now Cap. 21, Laws of the Federation, 2004. This was in fulfilment of the Federal Government’s obligation under Resolution 319(IV) of the General Assembly of the United Nations and Article 35 of the United Nations 1951 Convention.

He said that NHIS had been working with the management of the NYSC to implement the scheme. According to him, enrollment of NYSC members into NHIS is a presidential directive and we have been working in partnership with the NYSC to ensure that the fund for the coverage is obtained, so that national insurance scheme can begin to cover youth corps members.
“What I can say is that within the NYSC programme, we have developed a comprehensive framework. We are waiting for the disbursement of the fund to begin to cover them.” Sambo also told NAN that the NHIS had been working toward addressing the complaints of health service providers that Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) were owing them.
