ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan Thursday said the Covid-19 vaccine will be available in the country by early next year as several areas of Karachi and Peshawar came under “smart” lockdowns amid rising cases of the coronavirus.
Speaking to a private news channel, Dr Sultan said it is expected that by February or March next year, the Covid-19 vaccine would be available, adding that clinical trials are progressing well across the country.
Dr Sultan cautioned that the virus ratio in Karachi was high compared to other cities and once again urged indifferent citizens to take precautions as extensive social activities will lead to a further increase in coronavirus cases.
Dr Faisal Sultan urges people to strictly adhere to Covid SOPs
Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has urged the people to strictly adhere to the SOPs to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus. In a video message, he pointed out that increasing cases of Covid-19 are increasing the burden on the health facilities. He said the people should wear masks, observe social distancing, hand wash with regular intervals and avoid big gatherings.
The Special Assistant said the people should observe precaution whilst celebrating their events such as weddings or the Christmas. Faisal Sultan said cooperation is required at the grassroots level to check the spread of the pandemic.
People will be vaccinated against Covid-19 free of cost: Dr Faisal
Islamabad, December 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said the anti-Covid-19 vaccine to be procured by the government will be vaccinated free of cost to the general population. In a media briefing in Islamabad today, he assured that the vaccine will be procured keeping in view its safety, efficacy and effectiveness. He said one hundred and fifty million dollars had initially been set aside for the vaccine procurement and the amount can be further enhanced keeping in view the situation.

The coronavirus vaccine will be available in Pakistan in the next two months, says Prime Minister Imran Khan s National Task Force on Science and Technology Chairperson Dr Atta-ur-Rehman.
Dr Rehman said on Monday that the richer and bigger countries have already paid for the COVID-19 vaccine. It will take time for smaller countries to procure the vaccine, he said, adding that Pakistan will have to try hard itself to procure it.
The scientist explained that dispensing the vaccine will be a lengthy procedure because of the country s population.
