The South Central Railway’s Diesel Loco Shed (DLS) at Vijayawada has bagged the first prize in energy conservation among the industry/railway workshops in the country for saving more than one lakh units. It has got the National Energy Conservation Award in the above category announced by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency of Union Ministry of Power.
These awards are declared for the year 2020 as part of National Energy Conservation Week being celebrated from December 14 to 21, according to a press release by Vijayawada railway division PRO Nusrat M. Mandrupkar.

Energy Secretary N. Srikant has called for focus on implementation of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), which helps in achieving a significant reduction of energy in the building sector and in cutting down on electricity bills.
Addressing a State-level webinar on ECBC conducted by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) as part of the National Energy Conservation Week on Wednesday, Mr. Srikant said Andhra Pradesh was one of the few States that issued a G.O. on ECBC and incorporated the same in building bylaws and online building permission system.

‘Make conservation week beginning today successful’
Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney has directed the District Collectors to ensure involvement of all stakeholders to make the National Energy Conservation Week 2020 beginning December 14, a grand success.
She said in a communication to the Collectors that the State government has, for the first time, announced ‘AP State Energy Conservation Awards’ to recognise excellence in energy conservation and energy efficiency in various sectors.
Ms. Sawhney, who is the chairperson of the State Energy Conservation Mission, said the government attached high priority to energy efficiency and took several important decisions to take the energy efficiency movement forward.
