Andrew O’Keefe will seek to have domestic violence charges dealt with under mental health provisions rather than criminal law.
His lawyer, Kara Greiner, today handed a letter to Waverley Local Court indicating O’Keefe is being treated at Prince of Wales Hospital. However, she agreed an “indicative” plea of guilty could be noted, in the event of the application failing.
Magistrate Ross Hudson noted O’Keefe had been an involuntary hospital patient since January 30.

The Chase host Andrew O’Keefe was mentioned this morning at at Waverley Local Court as his lawyer Claudette Chua made an appearance.
O’Keefe did not appear in court, having sent through a medical certificate and being excused.
“I appeared this morning in Mr O’Keefe’s matter. We’ve sought a short adjournment in circumstances where Mr O’Keefe has been unable to give full instructions on such short notice,” Ms Chua said outside court.
“I have had an opportunity to review the facts in the matter and I will say this: Mr O’Keefe was certainly not the aggressor in the situation and Dr Lavee will have a lot to answer for.
