Chamber heads considering unions request to discuss workplace vaccination

Trade unions have written to the heads of three business chambers to discuss covid19 vaccination at the workplace. Some local businesses have introduced a vaccination policy that says unvaccinated workers must take a PCR test every two weeks at their own expense. The Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM), Federation of Independent Trade Union and NGOs and the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC) wrote a joint letter dated July 28. It was addressed to AMCHAM CEO Nirad Tewarie, Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce CEO Gabriel Faria and TT Manufacturers Association CEO Dr Mahindra Ramdeen.

It said first and second Sinopharm doses would be administered there. In a release, the ministry said this also applied to mass vaccination facilities, except for the UTT Chaguanas Campus and the National Racquet Sport Centre, as second-dose AstraZeneca vaccines are being given there.
